What leaves your computer. In writing.
By default, nothing. Hukum transcribes your voice on your own computer, with no account and no analytics. Your audio only leaves if you choose a cloud model, and then it goes straight to that provider with your own key, never through us. This page explains exactly what goes where, then gives our full privacy policy for the app, this website and the waitlist.

Who we are
Hukum is made by Prathamesh Patil, an individual based in India, who is responsible for any personal data described here. Contact: privacy@hukumvoice.com.
The Hukum app
Hukum has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising. We do not receive your recordings, your transcripts or your settings. Speech is processed as described in the table above: on your computer with an offline model, or by the cloud provider you choose, using an API key you create with that provider. When you use a cloud provider or AI clean-up, that provider's own privacy policy applies to what you send it.
What the app keeps on your computer
Your settings, including any API keys you add, are stored in Hukum's settings file on your computer. Your recent dictations are kept in the app's history on your computer (the last 5 by default); you can choose to keep recordings for 3 days, 2 weeks or 3 months, or never, and you can delete them at any time. None of this is sent to us.
When the app goes online
Only in three cases: to download a speech model the first time you choose it (from the model's download server); to check for app updates (a request for a small file describing the latest version, from our update server; updates are cryptographically signed); and to reach a cloud provider, only if you choose one. Like any web request, these reveal your IP address to the server you contact. We do not use it to identify you.
This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers. Its fonts are served from our own domain. The site is hosted by Vercel, which processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type in its server logs to deliver and protect the site. We do not use these logs to identify you.
The waitlist
If you join the waitlist, we store your email address, the time you signed up and which page you signed up on. We use your email for one purpose: to tell you when Hukum is available. It is kept in a private Google Sheet, so Google stores it as our service provider. We don't sell it, share it with anyone else, or add it to other lists. Our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist email until we have sent the launch email and for up to 12 months after, so we can respect unsubscribes, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. Then we delete it.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, or withdraw your consent and leave the waitlist, by emailing privacy@hukumvoice.com. We reply within 30 days. If you're unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India or, if you live in the EU or UK, to your local data protection authority.
Where data is processed
Our service providers (Google for the waitlist, Vercel for hosting) may process data outside your country, including in the United States, under their own data-protection terms.
Children
The waitlist is for people aged 18 and over. If you're under 18, please don't sign up.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use your waitlist email, we'll tell you by email before it takes effect.
