Install Hukum
Use the installer (.exe) or the .msi package, for x64 or ARM64 PCs.
Pick a free offline model
Parakeet V3 is the recommended default: fast, accurate, and it runs on the CPU, so no graphics card is needed. It downloads once.
Hold Ctrl + Space and speak
Let go and your words are typed where your cursor is. Change the shortcut or switch to tap-to-talk in settings.
No graphics card needed
Parakeet runs CPU-only on most modern PCs (Intel 6th gen or equivalent AMD and newer), roughly five times faster than real time on mid-range hardware. Whisper models run best with an Intel, AMD or NVIDIA GPU.
Offline means offline
After the one-time model download, dictation works without an internet connection, on a plane or on bad Wi-Fi.

Does Hukum work offline on Windows?
Yes. The default models run on your PC, so after a one-time model download, dictation needs no internet connection.
Does Hukum need a graphics card on Windows?
No. Parakeet, the recommended model, runs on the CPU. A GPU helps if you choose one of the larger Whisper models.

Does Hukum send my voice to the cloud?
No. With an offline model, your audio is transcribed on your computer and never uploaded. Cloud models are optional and send audio straight to the provider you chose, with your own key. Hukum has no account and no analytics.
